Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I need to worry about my computer overheating with the pad underneath?
A. No.- The HARApad is designed to utilize the rubber "feet" on the bottom of a laptop, so the computer can use the designed in-cooling channels to maintain proper cooling.
Q. Is the HARApad moving the radiation to another location, exposing me to more radiation somewhere else on my body?
A. No.- The HARApad channels the radiation through the shielding and back to the computer.- It allows the radiation to pass through itself rather than your body.
Q. If the HARApad channels radiation through the shielding, is it sending it into my abdomen?
A. No.- We have taken extensive measurements around the computer. The edges of the computer have been shown to emit very little radiation.
Q. My RF meter doesn’t show any reduction in radiation.- Is the HARApad working?
A. The HARApad protects against the extremely low frequency (ELF) range of the EMF spectrum.- ELF radiation will not register on an RF meter.
Q. My Gaussmeter does not show any decrease in radiation.- What’s happening?
A. We use a tri-axial Gaussmeter for our testing.- Since electromagnetic radiation is direction-specific, a tri-axial Gaussmeter is essential.- We have measured highest amounts of radiation in the X-axis, though our reported reduction totals are resultant vectors (all directions).- Units of measure on your Gaussmeter should be in milliGauss (mG).

Q. Are my hands protected against radiation with a HARApad?
A. To some degree, yes.- Our studies have shown that ambient radiation is reduced by the HARApad when placed in an electromagnetic field.- However, radiation is still emitted in strong levels at the keyboard surface.- The keyboard's radiation is not nearly as extreme as the underside of the laptop but does remain above safe levels.- Overall, the keyboard surface registers around 20-30 mG, whereas the bottom of the computer often reads between 50-175 mG.- We are currently developing a product that addresses this concern.
Q. What about the screen radiation?
A. Laptop LCD/LED screens emit very low levels of radiation, typically in the recommended safe levels. We do not offer a product addressing this since these levels are of minimal concern.- Additionally, radiation is very distance-sensitive, and this distance, paired with the low levels of radiation, is often enough to render the screen risk-free.
Q. What factors determine the levels of radiation output?
A. Radiation emission is highest when the computer is working the hardest.- That is,if your computer is running memory-intensive programs, emission is high.- Also, older computers tend to emit higher radiation levels.- However, in our research, we’ve witnessed values in the high 150 mG range from running a simple virus scan.
Q. I’m interested in a cell phone radiation product.- Do you have anything coming out?
A. We are currently investigating appropriate and effective methods for cell phone radiation protection. We will post any new product information here on our website.
Q. I usually use my laptop on top of a desk/case.- Should I use the HARApad between the desk and the computer or under the desk/case?
A. The HARApad is most effective closest to the source of radiation; however, it will function appropriately in either circumstance.
